2018

My role as an intern at Bosch significantly improved my concept visualisation techniques while working alongside industry leading engineers. Much of my time was spent developing concepts, prototyping and presenting ideas.

ATINO

The UX lab team were tasked with adapting laser leveling technology from Bosch’s professional surveying range to potential use cases within the home environment.

Atino replaces traditionally challenging leveling techniques with a satisfying and streamlined user experience. The device can stick to any surface using nano pad self-adhensive material and projects a laser when rotated exactly level. It was my first experience working on a professional project and opened my eyes to the challenges that must be overcome to achieve innovation on a large scale.

MAIN CHALLENGES

One of the main challenges and learning curves I experienced while working on Atino was learning how to accommodate technical package requirements while retaining a visually impressive and world-class user experience. I worked alongside Engineers to understand how mechanical solutions could be achieved within the project’s manufacturing constraints.

INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

Through my internship at Bosch, I learnt how to apply branding and visual design guides. One of the main techniques used to do this was photoshop rendering. It is now a technique I use predominately in the early concept proposal stages of projects and final proposals before entering a 3D CAD environment.

CONCEPT EXPLORATION

A high standard of traditional sketching and ideation within the team improved my skills considerably.

CAD WORKFLOW

During my time at Bosch I was taught an interoperable CAD workflow utilising the advantages of Rhino, Solidworks and Grasshopper in combination. This allowed for full creative freedom in achieving 3D forms.
