2019-20

Our brief was to design a series of commercially viable hand sanitiser stations suitable for high-end retail and public workspaces in small-batch manufacture.

The project was a direct response to the rapid change in public space safety requirements after lockdown. As such, rapid design development and in-house functional prototype fabrication were needed to achieve success in the small window of opportunity set by the client.

RAPID DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

In-house prototype assembly and validation made it possible for us to discover and solve issues in real-time while feeding our findings back into the core designs.

We worked directly with multiple specialist manufactures. These included steel frame welders, corian molders, wood turning specialists, and multistage CNC manufacturers.

The above visualisation was used to propose our final three concepts to the client.

THE SOLUTION

Three concepts were developed through to an initial batch run of manufacture. These ranged in volume of sanitiser for different foot traffic areas. The above unit progressed from sketch to fully functional prototype in a matter of weeks.

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

An easy to assembly Aluminium faucet design that utilised 3D printed housing and a repurposed spray nozzles was designed from the ground up.

MARKETING IMAGERY

Generating effective marketing media was crucial to securing Investor backing and communicating concepts clearly and effectively.
